Sound effects website that is copyright free: http://soundbible.com/free-sound-effects-1.html
The sound effects used: phone ringing, News motif, TV static, TV beep
When finding our soundtrack, it was important that it was from a copyright free website so that we could legally use it for our opening sequence. Through our group’s research we found that a diverse range of music is used throughout different action/thriller/horror films.
The convention we decided to use was a soundtrack
with isolated instruments. This was commonly used just before a key event
occurs which is why we thought it was fitting in our opening sequence as a
kidnapping takes place. Another convention was ‘extreme but intentional changes
of tones’. For example a low long brass note, which suddenly changes to a very
fast high-pitched note. The audience would go from feeling at ease due to the
soft music to immediately tense due to the undertone of threat in the
soundtrack also.

Which is why the soundtrack
we chose is: isle of the dead by Rachmaninov. (it was produced in 1908 so it is free from copyright)
